A full calendar is one of the most convincing illusions in business. It looks like progress. It feels like progress. Sometimes it even gets praised as progress.

At the end of the week, what actually exists that didn't exist before?
A signed agreement. A finished menu. A process someone else can run. A product a customer can hold.
If the answer is mostly "I responded to things," the week was spent maintaining, not building.

Protect the building time
Building rarely happens in the gaps between meetings. It needs a block of time with nothing else competing for it.
Put that block on the calendar first. Then let everything else fit around it.
Your calendar is an operating system. Program it on purpose.
